Did you know that Shakespeare invented more words in the English language than most people even know? I’m not kidding, there are at least 1,300 different words and phrases that don’t appear anywhere until the National Poet of England inked them on paper. And these aren’t all incomprehensible old-timey words either: swagger, juiced, eyeball, puking, alligator, wormhole — all were invented by The Bard. Chances are you’ve already quoted Shakespeare today and you didn’t even know it!
To celebrate Shakespeare’s 400th anniversary, the designers from ADC Global in collaboration with Shutterstock, created these clever Alphabet posters, paying tribute to the words invented by the famous writer.
