Beijing based Chinese artist Leng Jun paints with such degree of detail that his paintings look as if they were photographs. Even the background of the canvases is so realistic, that sometimes people confuse some of his paintings with mixed-media artworks.
My style is different from ultimate realist style paintings that you see in the West,” Jun told ThinkTech Hawaii. “A lot of super realist style paintings in the West take a photo as a medium…and then copy what’s on the photo. In my case, I use my naked eyes to observe and paint on the canvas what I see. Everything you can see with your naked eyes can be expressed, can be painted.”

Jun’s works usually feature still lifes and realistic portraits of women. The artist won the Art Award in the 2nd Annual Chinese Oil Painting Exhibition, Beijing, and the Golden Award in the 3rd Annual Chinese Art Exhibition.
