Five years ago, photographer Julia Marie Werner discovered a stray and weak puppy in her garbage while she was traveling through Spain. She took one look at the fray little thing and it was love at first sight!
It was perhaps fate that, a few days later, Tschikko appeared on the set in Malaga where Julia was working as a photo assistant at the time – maybe the cameras magically pulled him in that day? The little street dog with brown fur and dark button eyes was hunting insects and butterflies on the set which reminded Julia of Simba from the Lion King. So, she aptly named him Tschikko, or Tschikko Leopold von Werner to be exact, and thus the city Lion was born.
As the two grew closer and closer, Julia decided to bring Tschikko back with her to Germany where they later did this wonderful photoshoot called Big City Lion. It shows the adorable adventures of Tschikko dressed up as a lion, all with a dose of humor and a big wink.
